Meet the Waste Pickers Movement
Waste Pickers Movement Makhanda, Eastern Cape, South Africa
The Waste Pickers Movement in Makhanda advocates for fair representation in local media and compensation and to establish access to nutrition and healthcare.
Representation and belonging
Waste Pickers are part of society and must be given opportunities to self-represent, share their positions and justify descriptions given to them by local media. A key part of this joint project is reframing media representations about the pickers.
