The Waste Pickers Movement in Makhanda advocates for fair representation in local media and compensation and to establish access to nutrition and healthcare.​

Representation and belonging

Waste Pickers are part of society and must be given opportunities to self-represent, share their positions and justify descriptions given to them by local media. A key part of this joint project is reframing media representations about the pickers.
